5 possible teams Ronaldo can join after Man United exit

Cristiano Ronaldo’s widely expected exit from Manchester United has opened debate on his next possible port of call in his largely successful career.

United announced on Tuesday that they have parted ways with Ronaldo days after his shock exclusive interview with British broadcaster Piers Morgan.

The 37-year-old blatantly hit out at United management and coach Erik ten Hag saying he does not respect him.

CHELSEA

With new manager Graham Potter’s impressive start to his reign at Stamford Bride now a distant memory, Chelsea’s management might be tempted to bring Ronaldo on board.

The Blues signed Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to solve the impotence upfront but the former Arsenal captain has struggled of late.

In any case, Chelsea do not have a superstar of their own in the same way Liverpool have the likes of Mohamed Salah and Manchester City (Erling Halaand).

It wouldn’t be a surprise if Ronaldo went to the Bridge.

ARSENAL

That Ronaldo could sign for the Gunners should have been the stuff for banter not too long ago. But now such a possibility cannot be dismissed.

Afterall, in that hard-hitting interview, Ronaldo made it clear that he fancies the Gunners to win the league title.

However, it remains to be seen if young manager Mikel Arteta can accept the ego of his former peer Ronaldo.

Arteta’s axing of Aubameyang shows that he would rather build his team around obedient and hardworking small-name players than someone who feels bigger than life.

PSG

The prosect of Lionel Messi playing upfront alongside his eternal rival Ronaldo looks impossible on paper. But never say never in football. Of late, there has been some positive vibes between the two global football superstars. Ronaldo has of late spoken glowingly of the Argentine and vice- versa.

The French giants have always been about signing Galacticos largely for commercial purposes. Bringing Ronaldo on board could perhaps increase their hopes of winning the elusive UEFA Champions League.

And it is also an open secret that Ronaldo has some unfinished business with the Champions League.

The only stumbling block could be another problem boy, Kilian Mbappe, who alongside Ronaldo, would mean having to manage two ‘egos’ that can threaten the dressing room.

AS ROMA

Why not a return to Italy for one last Serie A dance with compatriot manager Jose Mourinho? The pair worked together at Real Madrid in Spanish La Liga. Forget about their eventual fallout. There are no permanent enemies in football.

NEWCASTLE UNITED

The Magpies have been a revelation this campaign and adding Ronaldo to their attack could be a big boost as they eye UEFA Champions League football next season.

The Portuguese superstar would fancy signing for a team that is ahead of United on the log table.
