Patrice Motsepe’s message to Ghana ahead of Portugal clash

Confederation of African Football (CAF) president Dr Patrice Motsepe has offered words of support and encouragement to the Ghana national team ahead of their 2022 World Cup opener against Portugal on Thursday.

Motsepe, along with a CAF delegation, have been visiting African nations participating at the World Cup in Qatar.

They started with a visit to Senegal on Saturday before he went to the Tunisia, Morocco, Cameroon and Black Stars camp.

Ghana will take on Portugal in a Group H encounter in Doha on Thursday at 18:00.

Motsepe and CAF Secretary Veron Mosengo-Omba gave a world of motivation to the players. They were received by Ghana Football Association (GFA) president Kurt Edwin Simeon-Okraku and other officials.

MESSAGE TO THE BLACK STARS

“It’s a great honour for me to be here to be with each and every one of you,” he told the players and staff.

“You make us so proud, and the people of Ghana and Africa are very proud of each and every one of you. We know that this is an opportunity for you as a team to continue the excellent performances. We are absolutely confident, and we believe in you”.

“You have shown us what you are capable of doing in the past. This belief is based on your performances on the field and the very, very difficult victories that you have achieved in the past,” he said.

“Many of you play at the highest level in the World, and this is the highest level in the world. So, we came here to say to you that the people of Ghana and the whole of Africa. The 54 nations in Africa and the 1.4 billion people in Africa support you. We believe that you are going to make history.”
