The 4 qualities that make Miguel Timm every coach’s dream

Marumo Gallants coach Dan Malesela has revealed why he found it so easy to coach Orlando Pirates midfielder Miguel Timm during his time at the Limpopo club.

Timm became a known figure in the DStv Premiership when he was playing for Gallants under coach Malesela, bossing the midfield.

His consistent displays helped the team reach the 2021/22 Nedbank Cup final. The midfielder, however left the club after his contract expired.

At Pirates, Timm has continued with same mentality and consistency. For his superb displays, he was rewarded with a national team call-up by Bafana Bafana coach Hugo Broos.

Timm is coachable

“He’s a very coachable person and worst of all he also coaches himself. That’s where you want to see players get to. The moment they can be able to coach themselves and realize mistakes and all that, that’s when you know they are getting better,” Malesela told FARPost.

Listens to instructions

“Miguel is one of those who listens to instructions, and he will also question things. I think the biggest thing is for the players to understand. if you don’t explain to them and they don’t ask you questions, that’s when there is a problem.

Knows his responsibilities

“He’s able to know what he must do, knows his responsibilities. You don’t have to tell him. You don’t have to shout from the side.

Team Player

“One of his biggest assets is being a team player. That’s why he’s always on yellow cards. He’s involved in issues that don’t concern him. He fights for his team and teammates.”

Talented

“He’s above a lot of people in that position. That’s why you will always struggle to replace him. Now you look at players who got the same mentality, who are coachable.”
