10 of the Premier League’s highest earners

Following the departure of Cristiano Ronaldo from Manchester United, the list of the top 10 Premier League high earners changed slightly.

FARPost runs through the list of Premier League stars pocketing the highest weekly wages in the 2022/23 season.

Kalidou Koulibaly [Chelsea, £295k]

The Senegal defender signed a four-year deal with the London side, earning him the biggest paycheck of his career. The 31-year-old established himself as one of the most coveted defenders in the world while turning out for Napoli in Italy.

Casemiro [Manchester United, 300k]

The Brazilian has brought a stability Manchester United have not experienced in midfield since Michael Carrick’s retirement in 2018. The five-time UEFA Champions League winner deservedly became one of the club’s highest earners. It has shown in the 30-year-old’s performances.

The England midfielder joined City from Aston Villa for an astonishing fee of £100 million, which came with improved personal terms. However, the 27-year-old Three Lions star is yet to justify City’s hefty transfer fee and salary.

Raheem Sterling [Chelsea, £325k]

The Blues had to offer Sterling £325,000 a week to prize him away from City. Until the deal was done, it made little sense why the English attacker would want to leave a City team that has dominated Premier League football for a long time. However, the 27-year-old is yet to justify the massive pay packet, with new manager Graham Potter also working on settling into his new job.

Raphael Varane [Manchester United, £340k]

The Frenchman came to United with four UEFA Champions League medals and a FIFA World Cup medal. It is no surprise that the club would pay so much, considering how he brings stability to their defence. His partnership with Argentinian ball-playing defender Lisandro Martinez looks promising. The only downside is the 29-year-old’s constant injuries.

Mohamed Salah [Liverpool, £350k]

The Egyptian’s future looked uncertain at some point as the Pharaohs attacked and pushed for improved personal terms to sign a new deal. The 30-year-old eventually penned a deal that keeps him at the club until 2025, making him the club’s highest earner.

Jadon Sancho [Manchester United, £350k]

Despite being a high earner at United, the former Borussia Dortmund star is yet to replicate the form that made him a household name in Germany. The arrival of Brazilian winger Antony and the emergence of academy ace Alejandro Garnacho further complicate the 22-year-old’s case.

For years, the 32-year-old was the best performer for United and justifiably became the highest-paid goalkeeper. Interestingly, no goalkeeper in the Premier League earns half of De Gea’s wages.

Erling Haaland [Manchester City, £375k]

The Norwegian has needed no time to acclimatise after the switch from Dortmund to City. If there is any player whose salary is justified, it’s the 22-year-old goal machine. He has scored 18 Premier League goals in 13 appearances.

Kevin De Bruyne [Manchester City, £400k]

Following Ronaldo’s departure from Manchester United, the Belgian is the highest earner in the Premier League. The 31-year-old has been consistent for City for seven years and remains Pep Guardiola’s talisman.
