Luke Le Roux wins top gong at Varbergs BoIs awards ceremony

South Africa-born midfielder Luke Le Roux walked away with the Player of the Season accolade at his Swedish side, Varbergs BoIs

This comes after Varbergs acknowledged their players and technical staff members for their efforts for the 2022 season.

Each year, upon the completion of the Allsvenskan campaign, a Swedish professional football top flight, Varbergs celebrate the team’s achievements with an Awards Ceremony.

The Swedish club completed the 2022 campaign in the 14th position with 30 points after 30 outings and found themselves in the relegation playoffs.

However, Varbergs went on to maintain their league status after defeating Östers IF 4-2 on aggregate in the playoffs.

The 22-year-old midfield maestro has been one of the club’s few bright sparks this season and has starred as a creative spark, once again showcasing his electric pace and skills.

The Bafana Bafana international managed to play 29 games across all competitions in the 2022 term for his side.

Le Roux scored his only goal of the season for his club when they crashed Helsingborg 3-1 in a league clash last month. He was the highest-rated player for Varbergs after his stellar display in this game.

Overall, the rising star has played a total number of 79 games in Varbergs colours, having joined them back in February 2020.

The side hopes to come back stronger when the new season commences with the aim of challenging for some silverware and finishing in the season in a better position than they did in the just-ended 2022 Swedish top-flight campaign.

Given the midfielder’s impressive performance rates at the Swedish side in the 2022 season, it won’t come as a surprise if he secures a big move next campaign.

In addition, the talented footballer previously represented teams such as Ikapa Sporting, SuperSport United and Stellenbosch in South Africa before moving overseas.
