Luke Le Roux’s warning that reveals his personality
Bafana Bafana midfielder Luke Le Roux sent a warning to his teammates that seemingly reveals his personality.
The South Africa international, known to be religious, was accepting his player of the season accolade for his Swedish side Varbergs Bols via a recorded video.
“I will cherish this player of the year award and this moment for the rest of my life. Have a good evening that side, and don’t overdo it with the partying. You know who you are,” the 22-year-old said.
CONSISTENT PERFORMER
Le Roux credited his teammates for helping him storm into the Bafana set-up. The former SuperSport midfielder played an integral role in helping his club retain its status in Sweden’s top-flight league.
Varberg Bols finished 14th on the log and ended up in the relegation playoffs, where they won 4-2 on aggregate against Östers.
The talented linkman played 30 games in all competitions this season, scoring only once. The goal came in a 3-1 win against Helsingborg last season.
In September, Le Roux made his debut for Bafana against Sierra Leone and seemingly impressed Hugo Broos.
The Belgian coach called him for the recent friendly matches against Mozambique and Angola. He came on as a substitute against the Mambas before starting in the tie against Angola.

His two appearances bring his international caps to four. “I’m so happy and honoured to get this award. I know it wouldn’t have been possible without the trust and support from the coach, the technical team and especially you, my teammates.”
“All of you have also helped me to get into my national team, which in itself is a great honour and privilege.”
The former youth international is being tracked by several clubs in Europe, with Malmö reportedly leading the race.
