Why Ode Fulutudilu has no desire to play in SA’s Women’s League
Banyana Banyana striker Ode Fulutudilu has revealed why she has no desire to play in the Women’s National Football League, known as the Super League in South Africa.
The FC Fleury 91 forward stated that her life is now in Holland as she is now married to a Dutchman.
And for that reason, plying her trade in South Africa again is definitely the last thing on her mind, as she prefers to continue with her career in Europe.
Fulutudilu further said that the only time that she will touch down in South Africa is when Banyana Banyana coach Desiree Ellis will have “mercy” on her and calls her up to the national team.
The 32-year-old footballer has been playing in Finland, Spain, and Scotland before joining French side Fleury in 2022, having left South Africa back in 2018.
In SA, she represented teams such as Lolvido Rapids, Cape Town Angels, and Spurs Ladies, to mention a few.
WHY FULUTUDILU WON’T PLAY FOOTBALL IN SA AGAIN
When the ex-Glasgow City forward was asked if she still has the desire to come back to play football in South Africa again, she said: “Absolutely not, only because my husband is Dutch so right now my home is in Holland.”
“You know my time in South Africa is unfortunately over.
“The only time my face will see South Africa is when Desiree has mercy on me and calls me up for the national team.”
Given her stellar performances, she found herself as part of the Banyana squad that participated in the 2014 African Women’s Championship, the year that she debuted for the South African Women’s senior national team.
With her football career blossoming overseas, she was also involved in the squad that represented South Africa at the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup which was Banyana’s first appearance in the prestigious tournament.
