What AmaTuks must do to gain promotion to the DStv Premiership

AmaTuks coach Tlisane Motaung has outlined what the club needs to do to gain promotion back to the DStv Premiership.

At the beginning of the season, Motaung clearly stated that their mandate is to play in the South African top-tier league next season.

Last season AmaTuks came close to regaining promotion. However they lost it on the last day of the PSL Promotion/Relegation playoffs after suffering a one nil defeat to Swallows FC.

The University of Pretoria were relegated from the Premiership back in the 2015/16 season after finishing at the bottom of the log table.

MOTAUNG EXPLAINS

“With the January transfer window coming up, we need to bring someone who can score goals. We need to make sure that all the chances we creating are converted into the back of the net,” Motaung told FARPost.

“We need to continue playing well and defend well. Heading to the FIFA World Cup break, the results were not impressive. But performance wise I was impressed with the effort the boys have been putting in.

“The league [Motsepe Foundation Championship] is very difficult. It’s standard has improved from last season. After all, all teams are fighting for promotion. We need to be consistent in our performances through out the season.”

Motaung further revealed how the FIFA World Cup break helped the club regroup.

“It [FIFA World Cup break] was a great opportunity for us as a team to go back to the drawing board to restructure, reset and comeback strong,” he added.

“We have identified the gaps and we’re working hard to improve those areas that we ready when the league resumes next year.

After 12 matches AmaTuks are sixth on the table. They started the season on a high before dropping form.

AmaTuks have accumulated 18 points after registering four wins, and six draws and suffered two defeats.
