‘I’ve keen interest in the daily running of my farm’: Mweene

Mamelodi Sundowns goalkeeper Kennedy Mweene has revealed that he’s keen to get involved in the daily running of his farm.

Mweene was sharing the key takeaway from the Players Transition Programme run by the Premier Soccer League [PSL] and MultiChoice.

The Zambian was one of the graduates honoured by the Gordon Institute of Business Science (GIBS) in Johannesburg last month.

The purpose of the programme was to equip the footballers in a number of areas. The areas include Coach Education, Project Management, Facility Management, Business Innovation, Media Officers, Social Entrepreneurship, Merchandise Management and Event Management for a period of six months.

KENNEDY MWEENE’S KEY TAKEAWAY…

“My key takeaway from the whole programme was the fact that we are now able to ask questions because, at first, we did not understand. As for myself, I have a farm now. I’ve a keen interest in its daily running and some of the things I picked up during the course,” Mweene told Downs’ media.

“In future, I want to do a Project Management Degree or Diploma. And with online learning, I will get a chance to pursue the qualification.”

The 37-year-old shot-stopper stated that being part of the first group of the Programme opened his eyes.

“This was a great initiative by the league. I hope it doesn’t stop with us and continues so that other players also get to be empowered,” he added.

“It is making me eager to equip myself more. This was a revelation, and I know that we all came out of the programme with a lot of knowledge.”

KENNEDY MWEENE APPRECIATE THE SUPPORT

The ex-Free State Stars goal-minder also expressed his gratitude to his club for the support they have shown him throughout the programme duration.

“I give thanks to the club for the support they gave me, it possible for me to be able to focus on my studies, and for that, I am grateful. We had eight modules that we were studying.”
