Another PSL club slapped with FIFA transfer ban
Yet another Premier Soccer League (PSL) club has been slapped with a FIFA transfer ban over the unfair dismissal of a player.
It never rains but pours for Motsepe Foundation Championship side Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila (TTM).
The latest news reaching FARPost is that TTM have now been banned from registering players by FIFA.
The ban is effective immediately and for the next three consecutive registration periods.
“Pursuant to art. 24 of the Regulations on the Status and Transfer of Players, if full payment (including all applicable interest) is not made within 45 days of notification of this decision, the following consequences shall apply:
“1. The Respondent shall be banned from registering any new players, either nationally or internationally, up until the due amount is paid. The maximum duration of the ban shall be of up to three entire and consecutive registration periods,” FIFA ordered TTM back in October.
WHY TTM ARE BANNED
It comes at the back of a dispute between the club and former goalkeeper Edmore Sibanda. The 35-year-old took the club to FIFA over a breach of contract.
He made 12 appearances for the club during the 2021/22 season. But a fallout with the club resulted in him being sidelined and the club stopped paying his salary.
TTM were found guilty of failing to honour their contractual obligations and were ordered to pay the player R 600 000. They were given 45 days to pay the amount in full failure of which they would be banned by FIFA.
It seems as if the club did not follow the order and were subsequently banned.
“We take due note that in its correspondence, the Creditor informs us that the respondent, the Club Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila, has not complied with its financial obligations in accordance with the decision of FIFA,” read a correspondence from FIFA.
“In this regard, we wish to inform the parties that a ban from registering new players internationally has been implemented by FIFA as of today.”
