Lesotho FA visits Chiefs to ‘explore football development’ opportunities

The delegation of the Lesotho Football Association (LEFA) led by secretary general Mokhosi Mohapi, visited Kaizer Chiefs at its Naturena base most recently to explore possibilities of cooperation between the two entities.

The secretariat was welcomed by the club’s football manager Bobby Motaung, and Sporting Director Kaizer Motaung Jr.

LEFA, which is the football governing body in Lesotho, says it recognises Amakhosi as a strategic partner both in short and medium term in pursuant to challenging for the continental glory.

The association said they were thankful to the club for opening its doors to discuss possible areas of collaboration on football development within the structures of the two organisations.

The Soweto giants, Chiefs, have a huge following in Lesotho; the Mountain Kingdom.

“LEFA was delegation was on Wednesday given a warm welcome by the South African giants,” the statement reads.

“Chiefs Football Manager Motaung expressed his delight and honour at hosting the LEFA delegation. He stated that Lesotho remains very close to the heart of the Amakhosi chairman Dr Kaizer Motaung.”

Meanwhile, for the past few years, LEFA has been on a mission to start and form alliances with clubs and football federations all over the world.

Not long ago, the association signed an agreement with Moroccan Football Association as well as Belgian federation and are expecting to reap the rewards of such relationship in the near future.

A month ago, with the help of the European football governing body UEFA, LEFA held a week long workshop on league development program.

The workshop which falls under the UEFA Assist program and was meant for the club presidents, vice-presidents as well as general secretaries of Premier League clubs.

Under the UEFA Assist Programme, Lesotho has been partnered with England and that partnership is also expected to bear fruits in the coming year.
