Sundowns goalie Andile Dlamini explains how it feels to be a coach

Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies goalkeeper Andile Dlamini has explained how it feels to be on the touchline giving instructions to Masandawana future stars. 

The Banyana Banyana star is the Development goalkeeper coach for Sundowns Under 16 girls. 

The 2022 Africa Women’s Cup of Nations [WAFCON] Goalkeeper of the Tournament works alongside Andisiwe Mgcoyi and Rhoda Mulaudzi.

The trio are preparing the side for the inaugural edition of the U16 girls’ Volkswagen [VW] Vaya Cup soccer tournament. 

The tournament is scheduled to start from the 9th until the 11th of December at the University of Witwatersrand. 

The trio have already hit the ground running with the Brazilians’ youth development team.

They hopes to guide them to the promised land. 

Given Dlamini’s extensive experience and her success, ‘Sticks’ has expressed what it means to be a youth coach.

WHAT EXCITES ANDILE DLAMINI AS A COACH 

“One of the most exciting things about being a coach is the awareness of having a team who depends on you for instructions and inspiration,” the WAFCON winning goal-minder told Sundowns’ media department. 

“Thankfully, I have gained so much at Mamelodi Sundowns and it is a privilege for me to mentor the future stars of this great club.”

Dlaimin: “This tournament is a perfect opportunity for us (including Andisiwe and Rhoda) to put into practice all that we have gained as players. 

“Kudos to Volkswagen for their efforts in nurturing the youth and shaping the future of football.”

Meanwhile, Dlamini has commended how their preparations are going thus far ahead of the tournament.

“Everything has been going on smoothly and the girls have been responding to the various training drills,” she added. 

“I must commend the team spirit among the girls as well as the excitement they are feeling ahead of the tournament. 

“As a goalkeeping coach, I am pleased with the high level of competitiveness within the team.”

The VW Vaya Cup is aimed at providing a platform for young boys and girls to develop and showcase their God-given football talents.

And also developing meaningful life skills like discipline and teamwork.

The winners will attend a bespoke international training camp in 2023 courtesy of Volkswagen.
