South Africa football fraternity dances to Lionel Messi vibe

South Africa football fraternity is dancing to the social media vibe of Lionel Messi after his Man of the Match heroics for Argentina at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar on Tuesday.

Messi’s magic and Julián Álvarez double in the 3-0 win over Croatia at the Qatar World Cup semifinal helped Argentina reach the final.

In reaction, former Mamelodi Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane said this generation should be grateful to have witnessed Lionel Messi’s greatness.

MOSIMANE SAYS LUCKY TO WITNESS LIONEL MESSI’S GREATNESS

“We will be lucky enough in our lifetime to see the greatest player in the world play in the World Cup Final,” he tweeted.

Mosimane says is it unfortunate that another superstar Neymar’s Brazil were booted out by Croatia in the quarterfinal.

Mosimane said he wished a World Cup final involving Brazil led by Neymar and Lionel Messi’s Argentina.

“The only trophy on offer he [Lionel Messi] has not won! Happy for him. Yes, I would have loved to see the semi-final of Messi vs Neymar, but football results are unpredictable,” he said.

Meanwhile, SuperSport United coach Gavin Hunt was short for word.

This was after he watched Lionel Messi in the semifinal meeting between Argentina and Croatia.

“Messi, Messi, Messi,” Hunt tweeted with an emoji of a goat.

World football is obsessed on what is dubbed the Greatest Of All Time (GOAT) debate between Messi and his eternal rival Cristiano Ronaldo.

“I’m done discussing who’s the G.O.A.T bruv …DONE,” he tweeted.

Messi was named Man of the Match as he converted a penalty.

He also provided an assist for Manchester City striker Julian Alvarez, who scored twice.

Messi has now scored in five consecutive games at the World Cup and he has also provided assists at the World Cup which is a record.

Argentina now await the winner between France and Morocco in the final which will be the PSG player’s second.
