‘I’m 100% sure Sundowns will keep him’, vows Lesedi Kapinga’s agent

Mushe Mudau, Lesedi Kapinga’s agent, has backed the midfielder to stay at Mamelodi Sundowns and fight for his place, dismissing talk of a possible move.

In an interview with FARPost, Mudau said the former Black Leopards attacker was so determined to make a mark at Sundowns, insisting there is no need to discuss any transfer interest.

The 27-year-old midfielder, who joined from Leopards in 2020, remains on the fringes of Rulani Mokwena’s starting XI.

Lesedi Kapinga happy at Sundowns

“Kapinga is happy with the fact that the club and the coach have so much trust in him,” Mudau told FARPost

“During the current break, he has been involved a lot, playing friendlies, and he is eager to fight for his place.

“I honestly don’t know anything about him moving. The boy is ready to fight for his position. He takes it as a challenge. He knows he needs to fight.”

Kapinga, who turns 28 in May, signed a three-year deal in 2020 with an option of two years.

Mudau is confident the defending champions will trigger the two-year option.

“Kapinga is a talented player. I don’t think they would want to lose a talented player. He’s a special talent. They have a special talent. No one can allow losing such a talent.

“I don’t think they can release a special talent. I’m 100% sure they will keep him and negotiate a new contract.”

Appreciates the opportunity

This season, he has made three substitute appearances in the DStv Premiership.

Last season, he made 14 appearances across all competitions, mostly coming from the bench.

Since joining the club, he has won the DStv Premiership title twice and the Nedbank Cup and the MTN8.

Mudau believes the move to Sundowns was important for his profile.

“It was important for the profile of the player. He has won many cups with Sundowns. It’s a big deal for us. We appreciate the opportunity Sundowns have given him and him getting those medals,” he concluded.
