Linda Mntambo on why Sekhukhune were desperate for World Cup break

Sekhukhune United captain Linda Mntambo has explained why the FIFA World Cup break was helpful to his side.

Babina Noko have been failing to yield results from the start of the season under the leadership of Kaitano Tembo who was sacked last month.

Sekhukhune have only recorded two victories in 12 games, losing five and drawing five in the DStv Premiership.

Mntambo says they needed a break for “self-introspection” before they start with a clean slate when the season continues.

MNTAMBO ON WHY SEKHUKHUNE NEEDED A BREAK

“It’s something that we needed, we needed to reflect on the 12 games that we had played,” Mntambo told FARPost.

“Do self-introspection, especially as players individually and as a team together collectively.

“See where we fell short during the 12 games that we played and the positives that we had that we can build on.

“Make sure we improve as we come back to play against AmaZulu.”

THE APPOINTMENT OF BRANDON TRUTER

During the break, the Limpopo outfit announced Brandon Truter as Tembo’s successor.

The former AmaZulu FC mentor has an immense task ahead of him to help the club get out of the relegation zone.

Sekhukhune currently occupy the 15th position in the DStv Premiership standings and have only collected 11 points so far.

They recently reinforced the squad with the signings of former Baroka FC centre-back Mzwanele Mahashe and former AmaZulu defender Philani Zulu.

Truter will lead his side when they take on his former employers Usuthu on 31 December at Peter Mokaba Stadium at 17:30.
