Njabulo Blom bids farewell to Kaizer Chiefs

Njabulo Blom shared a heartfelt message on his Instagram page, bidding farewell to his now-former club, Kaizer Chiefs.

After Chiefs announced the departure of its own development product, Blom, to Major League Soccer (MLS) team St. Louis City, the Soweto-born player took to social media to write a post filled with gratitude and honour.

The message was to those who played an integral part in nurturing Blom’s talent at Chiefs since his arrival at the club at the age of 15.

“Today is a day of mixed emotions – the closing of one of the very special door that has been my home for the past eight years and the opening of another one that takes me onto the next stage of my footballing journey,” wrote Blom on his Instagram page.

“I came to Kaizer Chiefs as a 15-year-old with dreams and hopes of becoming a professional footballer and representing Amakhosi at first-team level one day.”

“The late Coach Ryder Mofokeng believed in and encouraged me from day one. He gave me guidance, and he will forever be in my heart.”

Blom also shared in his post the amount of influence coach Arthur Zwane had in his development.

“Coach Arthur and Coach Sundra had a big influence in those early days – thank you for showing belief and trust in my abilities,” he added.

“What a ride – it’s been a blessing to wear the gold and black jersey! From my debut season in 2019/20, when we ended up coming within minutes of winning the League, through to my personal highlight in 2021 – appearing in the CAF Champions League Final.”

Blom concluded his post by thanking all the coaches he worked with at Chiefs since his promotion to the first team.

“Thank you, coach Ernst, for giving me my senior team debut at such a young age.

“Coach Hunt – you treated me like a son; thank you for the love, support and for believing in me.”

“Coach Baxter – I am grateful that you believed you believed in me even in tough times, and I might say you also treated me like a son.

“To Coach Arthur and Coach Sheppie, I wish you all the very best to bring Chiefs successfully back to the top and give our truly amazing fans the success that they deserve,” concluded Blom.
