Marumo Gallants venue change confirmed

DStv Premiership club Marumo Gallants have started to move their matches away from Polokwane in Limpopo.

Gallants are on the verge of relocating their training base from Polokwane to Centurion in Gauteng.

And as FARPost earlier reported, the club will host their home matches at Royal Bafokeng Sports Palace in North West.

This is besides the strong links to Gallants’ imminent move to Mangaung. According to a source, the deal to relocate to Mangaung will only be finalised once the supposed buyer fulfils their financial obligations.

In the meantime, the players have been instructed to find places to stay in Pretoria.

Gallants are set to host Maritzburg United on Saturday, 7 January 2023.

Meanwhile, the Polokwane municipality has been notified of the venue change for the Maritzburg game.

But they are still not aware of a permanent relocation by the club.

Limpopo club Marumo Gallants are set to permanently relocate from the Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane before the end of the current Premier Soccer League (PSL) season.

“In so far as their future is concerned, we don’t know,” manager for Sport and recreation in Pololwane Manhlako Sebaka told FARPost

“We don’t know what is it that they are thinking unless they provide us with specific details in terms of their future plans.”

MARUMO GALLANTS AND POLOKWANE DEAL COMING TO AN END?

“When we signed the agreement, we were very clear in terms of what we can do and what is it that Marumo will be able to do.

“When we drafted the agreement, it was based on the material condition at that time that we were going to provide facilities for training and playing matches,” added Sebaka.

Gallants are currently in 11th place on the DStv Premiership log standings after 12 matches played.

They have only managed two wins, both coming since the return of coach Dan Malesela.

Malesela returned to the club to take over from Romain Folz, who quit citing interference.

The club also saw two of their key players leave, Miguel Timm and Ndabayithethwa Ndlondlo, who have both moved to Orlando Pirates.
