Miche Minnies reflects on Sundowns Ladies debut season

Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies frontwoman Miche Minnies has reflected her successful debut season at Chloorkop.

The lethal goalscorer joined Banyana Ba Style from Vasco Da Gama Ladies in the just-ended Hollywoodbets Super League term. 

Minnies helped Masandawana to fire the Super League title charge with her stellar displays throughout the 2022 season. 

She also played a significant role in helping the Brazilians to reach the final of both the COSAFA qualifiers and the 2022 CAF Women’s Champions League. 

Her partnership with Boitumelo Rabale upfront came second to none as they scored goals for fun. 

Minnies completed the season with 22 league goals, just two behind top-scorer Rabale in the South African football women’s league.

“It is such a privilege to play for Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies because it has allowed me to play with several quality players,” the 21-year-old goal poacher told Sundowns’ media department. 

“Also, I am proud of the valuable insights I have obtained from some of the experienced players in the squad. The chemistry I have formed with fellow strikers in such a short time means so much to me.”

MICHE MINNIES’ PROUDEST MOMENTS… 

The Cape Town-born has since revealed her proudest moments in her first season at the club.

“I have enjoyed several beautiful moments since I joined this illustrious club,” she added. 

“Scoring four times in one game and reaching two continental finals are just some of the highlights of my debut season. 

“Although, I am happy with the number of goals I scored, contributing to the team’s overall success which included retaining the Hollywoodbets Super League made me excited. 

“It gives me great joy to also assist my teammates because we are built to fight for each other.”

Shifting the focus to the next season she said: “Next season will be a big one for us because we will be gunning to dominate every competition we participate in.

“On a personal level, I am aiming to work harder to surpass my debut season performance and to win more titles with this great club. 

“I hope to fight for my place in the team because the level of quality at Sundowns Ladies is very high. I am not resting on my achievements and I am eager to excel whenever I am called upon.”
