Ramagalela on AmaTuks move: ‘It’s going to help my mental health’
Veteran striker Rodney Ramagalela insists the sudden move to the University of Pretoria, AmaTuks, greatly contributes to his mental health.
Ramagalela had been without a club since parting ways with DStv Premiership side Chippa United at the end of last season.
The 33-year-old has joined AmaTuks together with fellow striker Thokozani Sekotlong.
In an interview with FARPost, Ramagalela said that it has been a difficult period for him mentally without being on the pitch.
“It’s exciting for me to finally have somebody calling me and requesting my services,” he said.
“Football makes me happy, so the move to AmaTuks is going to help my mental health because when I am back, football is where my mind belongs.
“It’s good to be back. It was something that I was wishing to receive or to hear the news. For me, it is a very exciting time.
“And I believe that I am still going to enjoy and do what I love,” said Ramagalela.

The former Mamelodi Sundowns striker also touched on his recent personal difficulties off the pitch.
“For me, It’s not about that I have failed in a certain way. When people die in a family you can’t say you have failed,” added Ramagalela referring to the death of his daughter and mother in 2019.
On top of that his house burned down to ashes last year.
“When your house and everything you have built for many years gets destroyed by the fire in that manner, it hurts.
“You know what that does to your mind and the body? I am just lucky that I am still alive. I always appreciate the chance that God gave me.”
Meanwhile, Ramagalela went on to express his happiness in joining Motsepe Foundation Championship side, AmaTuks.
“As you know that AmaTuks is the team that wants to compete and fight for everything. It is the same as me. I want to fight for everything,” he declared.
“I am the right guy to come to AmaTuks. I will try to bring my experience and try to help the younger ones grow and help the team to get promoted because that’s the goal of the team.”
AmaTuks are currently sixth in the Motsepe Foundation Championship with 18 matches to go.
