Marumo Gallants and striker Sede Dion part ways
Ivory Coast striker Sede Dion has officially parted ways with DStv Premiership side Marumo Gallants with immediate effect.
FARPost has gathered that Sede Dion stopped training with the club last week.
Dion joined the club at the beginning of the 2021/22 Premier Soccer League season. The 28-year-old has impressed, scoring some crucial goals for the club. This also includes the goal in the final of the Nedbank Cup, which they eventually lost to Mamelodi Sundowns in Rustenburg.
SEDE DION TO JOIN AMAZULU?
This publication has established that a reunion with former coach Romain Folz at AmaZulu is on the cards. Folz and Dion spent time together at Marumo Gallants before he resigned to be later appointed as head coach of the KwaZulu-Natal side.
They also know each other from their time at the Botswana Premier League. Dion was in the books of Jwaneng Galaxy. Folz, on the other hand, was head coach at Botswana giants Township Rollers.
A source has told FARPost that despite reported interest from other clubs, Dion will certainly move to Usuthu. Dion’s contract at Gallants was also coming to an end at the end of December 2023.
His move away from the club has also been long coming. Orlando Pirates and Stellenbosch had reportedly shown interest in the player.
Dion has been a key player in the Dan Malesela-coached side. But an injury at the beginning of the current season has hampered his progress.
During his two seasons stay at the Limpopo-based club, Dion netted eight goals in all competitions. He has only made nine appearances this season.
Dion was discovered after an impressive display in the CAF Champions League and Confederations Cup for Galaxy.
Marumo will now be left with Ranga Chivaviro, Riyaaz Nell and Letsie Koapeng as their main strikers.
