Zitha Kwinika delivers honest assessment of how Kaizer Chiefs have fared this season

Kaizer Chiefs defender Zitha Kwinika has delivered an honest assessment of how Amakhosi have fared this season ahead of the DStv Premiership restart.

The Soweto giants visit Golden Arrows on New Year’s Eve at the Moses Mabhida Stadium and Kwinika, who rejoined his boyhood club early this season, knows what they have to do to beat the KZN outfit.

The Soweto giants will be aiming to end Arrows’ dominance over them in the league. Last season Abafana Bes’thende collected six points from Chiefs. They won one nil and 2-1, respectively.

WHAT CHIEFS NEED TO DO TO WIN AGAINST ARROWS

Kwinika believes if the team sticks to their plan and follows instructions, they will come out on top.

“We’re planning as a team to have a structure on how to approach the game, what to do and what not to do. I think if the plan is executed properly, we’ll have a good 31st,” Kwinika told the club’s media department.

“They [Golden Arrows] are a good team. The past few games they have played, we’ve been doing analysis on them. I think they are in high confidence.

“Every team playing against us, it’s always a big fight. We ready, we preparing very well, their advantages can also be their disadvantages.”

As the season is approaching the halfway mark, Kwinika believes they are on the right track.

“I think it’s good where we wanted to be. We are not far off from the teams above us. We in the right track.

“In the next two games, we’ll be in 15 matches. We’ll go back to see how far we are, how we did and how we can improve to stay on top,” he added.

Both sides will be aiming to resume the season on a good note and make it two out of two wins, respectively.

On the last league matches before the break, the duo got the derby bragging rights. Chiefs defeated their Soweto rivals Orlando Pirates 1-0, whilst Arrows won two-nil against their KZN rivals Maritzburg United.

Kickoff at the iconic Moses Mabhida Stadium is at 15:30
