Mokwena hints at loaning out more Sundowns players

Mamelodi Sundowns head coach Rulani Mokwena has hinted that more players might be sent out on loan during the January transfer window.

The Tshwane giants have promoted young players from the club’s DStv Diski Challenge side.

Indications are that most of them might be allowed to find loan moves to get the much-needed game time.

Sundowns have a handful of players on loan for the 2022/23 DStv Premiership campaign.

SUNDOWNS TO LOAN OUT YOUNGSTERS

Mokwena has suggested that more names could be heading out on loan in the next transfer window.

“We have a responsibility, and we are very happy with the team that we have,” Mokwena told the media at Chloorkop.

“We’ll sit with some of the players; some players want to play more. It’s only normal, and maybe some will be going on loan.

“So we might send some youngsters on loan that we had in camp at Polokwane who have incredible futures.

“We might maybe think that it’s better for them to gain experience somewhere else. So to expect no activity [in the transfer window] would be me lying to you.

“But anything that I can say now, even prior to the window being open, will be mere speculation. So let’s discuss that once we get to January.

HAPPY WITH THE SQUAD COMPOSITION

“We are very happy with the team that we have, the players that we have, and I don’t expect big moves,” added Mokwena.

The Brazilians currently have Grant Margeman, Siphesihle Mkhize, Nyiko Mobbie, Ricardo Goss, Thabang Sibanyoni, Keletso Makgalwa, Sammy Seabi, Devine Lunga, Lyle Lakay, Moleboge Modise and Siyanda Msani who are out on loan.

Sundowns have been dominant in the recent transfer windows and signed some household names in local football.

At the start of the current campaign, Masandawana signed Sipho Mbule, Ronwen Williams, Marcelo Allende, Terrence Mashego, Abdelmounaim Boutouil and Bongani Zungu.
