Cape Town City sink Royal AM at home

Cape Town City have defeated Royal AM 2-1 in a DStv Premiership clash at DHL Stadium on Friday evening.

Both sides were looking happy to knock the ball around in the opening minutes.

As the first half wore on, it was the home side attacking and the KwaZulu-Natal club scrambling to get back.

The Citizens continued to look to be the brighter team, as the visitors gave the ball away too easily.

City broke the deadlock in the 37th minute of the game courtesy of Bertrand Mani. 

However, Khabo Zondo’s charges needed a bit of magic to shake things up and take command of the contest.

RUZAIGH GAMILDIEN EQUALISES 

In 44th minute of the showdown Ruzaigh Gamildien levelled the matters. 

The showdown went into the half-time with a 1-1 scoreline.

In the second stanza, Eric Tinkler’s side had chances to put the game to bed, but luck was not on their side.

Meanwhile, AM couldn’t create much when they were in control of the match but they frightened the life out of the hosts late in the second period.

As the half progressed, the two teams, had offered little threat in front of their respective goals.

The club gained momentum they began bossing possession and getting into dangerous areas – seeking to add to the scoreline.

As the clock ticked 90+1 minutes, the the hosts found the another goal from Thabo Nodada to make 2-1.

After City’s second goal, AM pilled pressure on the hosts – taking control of proceedings, looking for a late equaliser and to break down the Citizens’ back four again but it was never meant to be. 

In the end, City claimed all the valuable three points in a 2-1 win

OTHER RESULTS

In other result, Stellenbosch and Chippa United also played out to a 1-1 draw at Danie Craven Stadium.
