Dan Malesela surprised by Celtic fans support, amid relocation talks

Head coach of Marumo Gallants Dan Malesela has reacted to the support the club received from Bloemfontein Celtic fans on Friday.

Hundreds of now-defunct Celtic fans attended the 1-0 defeat by SuperSport United at Lucas Moripe Stadium. The support was a strong indication of the fans’ hunger to have a club in Mangaung in the Free State.

It comes after a group of supporters read a letter supposedly from Marumo owner Abram Sello confirming the relocation from Limpopo to the Free State.

FARPost has previously reported that there was keen interest from Mangaung to have the club based there. This is despite the interested stakeholders failing to save Bloemfontein Celtic from being bought by Royal AM two seasons ago.

CELTIC SUPPORT A SURPRISE FOR DAN MALESELA

Speaking to the media after the match, Malesela didn’t want to be drawn into the details surrounding the deal but admitted it was a surprise to see Celtic supporters in Pretoria.

“This is a surprise to me. I didn’t know that they were coming,” said Malesela. “I really don’t know how to feel until I understand what is happening.

“It’s nice to have supporters. It will always be nice to have supporters. It’s very encouraging. If I were these players, I would be crazy today,” added Malesela.

“I would be filled with that thing if I wanted to impress and express myself. But it’s very funny that this happened. But I am not a prophet. I don’t want to preempt this. Let’s not go there.”

This publication has gathered that, at this point, no deal has been concluded as yet.

Meanwhile, Malesela has also expressed concerns regarding the results, which have seen them slip to position 13th on the DStv Premiership log.

“You always get worried. Especially where we are because one slip up, one team is on top of you, and you go back to where you were, and we should understand where we are more than anybody else.”
