Bradley Grobler’s solo goal earns SuperSport a win at CT City

Cape Town City succumbed to 1-0 defeat to SuperSport United in a DStv Premiership clash at the DHL Stadium on Tuesday evening.

Despite a dominant display with plenty chances, the hosts were unable to find a breakthrough against the resilient Tshwane-based side.

As the half progressed, it was action-packed, and the attempts on goal were in constant supply, making the game good viewing for the spectators.

Towards the half-time break Eric Tinkler’s charges were looking happy to knock the ball around with hopes of breaking the deadlock.

The half-time whistle blew with nothing to separate both teams.

In the second, the  Citizens continued dominating possession but found it difficult to break down a solid Matsatsantsa rearguard.

City kept upping the tempo, forcing the visitors’ backline into errors with the aim of finding an opener.

However, the unfazed Gavin Hunt’s troops couldn’t create much when they were in control of the match but they frightened the life out of the hosts.

The Cape club had chances to put the game to bed, but luck was not on their side.

The match turned scrappy and congested as the two sides looked to establish control in middle of the park.

But, the away side managed to redeem themselves but struggled to create anything by way of goalscoring opportunities.

In the 81st minute, Bradley Grobler scored the only goal of the game to earn his side a win away from home.

Matsatsantsa tried to pull one back, but luck was not on their side.

The victory saw SuperSport climb up the table to position two with 27, just four points behind  log leaders, Mamelodi Sundowns.

Whereas City finds themselves placed 10th on the log standings with 16 points after 14 games.
