Orlando Pirates striker Zakhele Lepasa has made a candid admission in view of the Buccaneers’ indifferent start to the season, saying the team deserves better.
Lepasa said the year 2022 did not end the way the Buccaneers had imagined, amid high hopes from the fans over a possible DStv Premiership title.

“We should demand better for the team. This team deserves better!” Zakhele Lepasa tweeted.
The Soweto-born forward said this in reaction to the 2-0 loss which Pirates suffered to Mamelodi Sundowns in a DStv Premiership match played on Friday.
The former TS Galaxy centre-forward said Pirates badly needed to wind up the year 2022 on a high to boost their confidence.
“2022 ends not the way we had imagined,” Zakhele Lepasa said.
“Still, there is so much to be grateful for. There’s so much to learn from the time we didn’t do well.”
The striker said bouncing back from the setback was not optional if Pirates are to revive their league title prospects.
“We have to be better. At this point we have no choice!,” the 25-year-old forward said.

Pirates strikers such as Lepesa and Kermit Erasmus are struggling to score in the league this season.
Zakhele Lepasa and Erasmus have one league goal to their credit so far.
The consolations for the Ghosts is that they won the MTN8 trophy after beating AmaZulu 1-0; hence the Buccaneers will not finish the season empty-handed.
The fifth league defeat in 14 games undermined the Buccaneers’ remote chances of catching up with the runaway leaders Sundowns.
The Soweto giants lie a yawning 12 points behind the Brazilians, whose cause is being helped by the fact that they have a game in hand.
Richards Bay sit second some five points behind Sundowns, who seem to be cruising to a sixth consecutive league championship.
The defending champions have won five games on the spin and are yet to concede since Rulani Mokwena was made head coach.
Mokwena replaced Manqoba Mngqithi who he served with as co-coach.
Sundowns management made Mngqithi senior coach to replace Steve Komphela who is now first team assistant coach.
