Chibuike Ohizu backed to improve as Brandon Truter admits he expects more from ‘Lion’

Sekhukhune United head coach Brandon Truter believes there is more to come from striker Chibuike Ohizu following a long layoff.

Ohizu played his first match for Sekhukhune of the season during the 0-0 draw against AmaZulu on Saturday. He was on target in his second match on Tuesday when Babina Noko beat Marumo Gallants 3-2 on Tuesday.

The Nigerian striker has been sidelined since the beginning of the season due to paperwork issues. The 26-year-old was required to renew his work permit in order to be registered with the PSL.

TRUTER BANK ON CHIBUIKE OHIZU

“Look, “Lion” (Chibuike Ohizu) has some few issues or things that we still need to work on,” Truter said ahead of the match.

“He is not 100% 90 minutes fit yet. But there is definitely a goal in him as well…

“There will be an improvement, of course, from this performance, especially the front three. As I said, we can improve, and we can hurt teams with the players we have. So decision-making in the last third and, of course, finishing and scoring would be our main aim,” he said.

Ohizu has previously proved to be a reliable striker for Babina Noko. He scored on nine occasions from 27 matches across all competitions Ohizu had an incredible run last campaign, having found the back of the net on nine occasions from 27 matches across all competitions during the 2021/22 season.

He joined Sekhukhune after a successful spell at Jomo Cosmos in the Motsepe Foundation Championship.

BATTLE OF LIMPOPO

Sekhukhune United moved to 12th place after Tuesday’s win in the DStv Premiership Limpopo derby played at Peter Mokaba Stadium. On the other hand, Marumo dropped to 14th position.
