Folz warning ahead of KZN Derby: Usuthu getting in fine shape
AmaZulu coach Romain Folz says Usuthu’s hard work in training should pay dividends starting from Sunday’s game against Royal AM.
Romain Folz gave an update early this week when AmaZulu regrouped for training ahead of the DStv Premiership derby for KwaZulu-Natal.
“When it comes to tactical and technical aspects, there is a lot of work that we have been doing.
“I think that we will be able to showcase that this weekend when the game comes,” he told AmaZulu media.
ROMAIN FOLZ TOUTS IMPROVED PHYSICAL FITNESS
The former Township Rollers handler touted his side’s improved physical fitness ahead of the KwaZulu-Natal derby.
The Frenchman said his side is close to realizing its right physical shape following intense training during the recent World Cup-enforced one-month break.
“As I said before the break, one of the major areas of improvement that I wanted to see is the physical aspect,” he told AmaZulu media.
“They say to redo physical preparation, you need seven to eight weeks, so we are in the middle of week six now.”
WHY AMAZULU MUST COLLECT MAXIMUM POINTS
The Bordeaux-born coach added that his target was getting maximum points from the game against Royal AM.
“We have three points to get no matter when, no matter what and no matter where,” he said.
The former Marumo Gallants gaffer said Usuthu must start collecting maximum points to finish in a good position on the log table.
“So, this game is important for us in a sense that the three points will get us in a good spot,” he explained.
“It will get us where we want to be, so we will try to secure that for our fans.”
The 32-year-old has since urged his team to build on the goalless draw against Sekhukhune United in the last game.
“You could see the improvements in the last game we played against Sekhukhune. We played the last 30 minutes, and we didn’t show any trouble physically,” he said.
“We were intense and dynamic from start to finish. We will try to get to a higher level of our physicality in fitness.”
Folz said Usuthu would soon start reaping the benefits of having the squad in the right physical shape.
