Free State ABC Motsepe League outfit D’General have acquired the services of Tshepo Motsoeneng as the club’s new head coach.

The well-travelled mentor comes highly recommended having won the South African football third-tier league five times.

And it is no surprise that the third division is his familiar territory, having helped Bizana Pondo gain promotion to the National First Division (NFD) during the 2020 ABC Motsepe National playoffs.

Motsoeneng also coached teams such as Tornado, Buffalo City Municipal (BCM) Stars, Sinenkani FC, Zizwe United, to mention a few.

WHAT D’GENERAL SEES IN TSHEPO MOTSOENENG

“Motsoeneng comes in with an unparalleled track record of having won the league in every season he has coached in the league with four different teams,” read D’General’s statement.

“He won the league twice with Tornado FC, once with Buffalo City and took Bizana Pondo Chiefs all the way to Glad Africa.

“The coach came back and took Zizwe United to the playoffs too last season. His coach’s experience also extends to Free State Stars, Santos FC and recently, Chippa United as assistant Coach.

D’General are currently placed second in Stream A of the provincial ABC League with 19 points, just three points behind stream leaders African Warriors.

Motsoeneng will be expected to challenge for the league title in order to qualify for the the national playoffs and possibly earn promotion to the Motsepe Foundation Championship.

Given the side’s good run in the league so far, one can tell that D’General are a very ambitious team with players who are capable enough to fight for the title honours.

The club’s next assignment will be against BFN Young Tigers on Friday, 10 February at Kaizer Sebothelo Stadium, with the kick-off scheduled for 16:00.

With Motsoeneng known for his lady luck on his side, the big question now is that, will he guide the Free State club to the promised land come the end of the season?
