AmaZulu coach Romain Folz has emphasized the importance of urgently collecting points, starting with the KZN derby against Royal AM.
Both clubs go into the KZN derby winless in their last few matches. AmaZulu have not won in three while Royal AM are yet to taste victory in five matches.
Royal AM’s last win was against Golden Arrows in another KZN derby on October 25. They won the match 3-1.
A LOT AT STAKE IN KZN DERBY
A win for both clubs could go a long way in improving their log standings. Folz admits that playing good football is not just enough and they need to start collecting maximum points.
“We need to win that game. It’s a league match and as much as you are happy with how we are playing we need points,” he said.
“So, we are at a spot right now where any win can get you to the right stages of the rankings. So we know what could happen for us if we start getting wins after wins. So as soon as we start (winning) the better it will be. Believe me, we are going to do everything we can and everything in our power to win that game,”
Meanwhile, Royal AM coach Abram Nteo also alludes to Folz’s sentiments that the match is a must win.
“We are trying to get back to winning ways and we will fight to get maximum points against AmaZulu. The match is a must win for us so we can find our feet,” he told the media after their draw against TS Galaxy.
“There is a bit of pressure for the club to not get the results. We have been playing well but not getting the results.
“When you look at last season, we performed very well but this season we are struggling in terms of results,” said Nteo.
The match starts at 15:30.
