Chiefs rising star Samkelo Zwane credits teammates for ‘support and guidance’
Kaizer Chiefs starlet Samkelo Zwane has commended his teammates for the “support and proper guidance” since he made his debut for the Soweto giants.
The rising star made his senior debut against arch-rivals Orlando Pirates in the Carling Black Label Cup last year November.
The 21-year-old went on to start in Chiefs’ DStv Premiership 2-0 win over Golden Arrows on New Year’s Eve and also started in Amakhosi’s 1-0 loss to Sekhukhune United over the weekend at FNB Stadium.
His stellar performances got many football fanatics compering the Chiefs Academy product to Manchester United legend, Paul Scholes.
And the youngster seems to have settled well in the first-team set-up since his promotion from the development structures.
SAMKELO ZWANE CREDITS TEAMMATES FOR SUPPORT AND GUIDANCE…
“I think all my teammates are giving me the support that I need, and proper guidance,” Zwane told Chiefs media department.
“They are letting me know that I can just express myself. And so far so good.”
He went on explain the difference between the senior team from development side.
“We try to keep a similar playing style in the youth development so that it will be easier to integrate,” he divulged.
“So, the only difference is the tempo. The playing speed is much quicker.”

Zwane further explained that his debut game against the Buccaneers in a Soweto Derby is one game he will cherish for the rest of his life.
“I was really grateful for the opportunity [playing against Pirates],” Zwane explained.
“It is one [game] that I’ll never forget. Never ever!”
Now, the central midfielder has set sight on continuing with his fine displays and cementing his place in the Glamour Boys’ starting line-up.
Chiefs’ next assignment will be against AmaZulu on Friday, 13 January away from home.
The kick-off is scheduled for 19:30.
