Ex-Pirates defender Ayanda Gcaba shown the exit door in Limpopo
Former Orlando Pirates defender Ayanda Gcaba is out in the market looking for another club as he was shown the exit door by Limpopo ABC Motsepe League side Emmanuel FC.
Emmanuel said in a statement on Monday that the 36-year-old was amongst those that are deemed surplus to requirement at the club.
Gcaba joined Emmanuel at the beginning of the season and was roped in to share his South African topflight experience having played for Pirates, Free State Stars and Platinum Stars in the DStv Premiership.
But the club have seemingly made a U-turn on the player and showed him the door.
The highly rated defender had joined Emmanuel from Sinenkani of the Eastern Cape. Before then, he was in the books of Blackpool in the Limpopo ABC Motsepe League.
EMMANUEL TECHNICAL TEAM UPDATE
On the other hand, the club has also announced that coach Zungu will continue as a head coach for the remainder of the 2022/23 season following the departure of Musa Nkondo.
“Cascar, Musa Valungu, Brothers Pat Mashimbye and Oscar Khosa won two big tournaments in December 2022 and will continue to drive the bench alongside Coach Zungu until the end of 2022/2023 season,” read the club’s statement.
“They also form part of the Executive Management as additional member, General Manager, Team Manager and Transport Manager respectively.”
MORE PLAYERS EXPECTED TO JOIN EMMANUEL
The club is also expected to make more additions to bolster their squad and work hand in hand with the side’s local players who brought glory to the team.
Meanwhile, Leon Nhlalala Ndlovu has been appointed as the side’s “new Communications Champion.”
The club management is still hopeful that they can still archive their ultimate goal of winning their respective stream and go on to qualify for the South African football third-tier national playoffs.
Emmanuel are currently placed sixth in Stream A of the provincial ABC League with nine points from seven outings.
The club’s next assignment will be against Vhondwe XI Bullets on Saturday, 21 January.
