Lamontville Golden Arrows winger Nduduzo Sibiya has claimed that they have what it takes to imitate Mamelodi Sundowns’ dominance.
The Tshwane giants are the most successful club of the past decade in South Africa.
In the 2020/21 season, Sundowns made history, becoming the first team to clinch the fourth DStv Premiership title in a row.
They’re currently chasing their sixth straight league title and many have already declared them champions as they look unstoppable.
Sibiya believes his side is capable to do what Sundowns have been doing.
SIBIYA: ‘WE CAN DO WHAT SUNDOWNS HAVE BEEN DOING’
“Yes, they are dominating and they always sign players who are performing in the league,” Sibiya said.
“They’re strengthening their squad each and every season. But we can also do what they have been doing.
“As long as we know what we want and be consistent, we can get something.”
‘Sulumane’, as he is affectionately known, says there’s no difference between them and the so-called big teams because they all play in the same league.
“The big teams look at us as small teams but it doesn’t mean anything to us,” he continued.
“As long as we play in the same league, that means we’re the same. So, they can say what they wanna say but we’re also workers.”
With round two of the league set to begin this week, Sibiya has emphasized the importance of putting a distance between themselves and the relegation zone.
Abafana Bes’thende are currently 5th in the league standings having gathered 19 points in 15 matches.

“We want to distance ourselves from the relegation zone,” he added.
“The league is very tight but we’ll try and collect many points as we can. Our problem is we have so many away games at the moment, so we need to make sure we win the home games and fight for a point away.
“But we want to finish in a right place.”
