Morgan Mammila says Sundowns were lucky to beat Chippa

Chippa United coach Morgan Mammila believes Mamelodi Sundowns didn’t deserve to win on Tuesday evening when the two sides met in the DStv Premiership at Loftus Versfeld Stadium.

He claims they gifted their opponents with two easy goals. The Gqeberha outfit tried to put out a fight to end Sundowns undefeated streak. However, they failed as they lost 2-1.

This saw Masandawana stretch their winning streak to 10 matches. Teboho Mokwena and Peter Shalulile were on target for Bafana Ba Style, whilst Thabiso Lebitso bagged one goal for the visitors.

MORGAN MAMILLA ON SUNDOWNS DEFEAT

“I think we gave them two easy goals that they did not deserve, and they did not work hard for these goals,” said Mammila.

“We came here to play football, and that’s what we do. We are best when it comes to playing football.

“We should have scored one. I don’t know how many passes were there in the box. They had a bad day at the office. Tomorrow it will be me getting those kinds of favours.”

Mammila further explained his style of play and his approach against Sundowns, praising his troops for the way they pass the ball.

“To be honest, my boys came to play football. I told them I don’t know what is parking the bus and I was not going to learn it now.

TENTH STRAIGHT VICTORY

“We are a team that can really pass. Of course, there were fouls that we didn’t get, but I’m not a man who complains about referees,” he added.

Masandawana’s 10th straight victory saw them increase their lead at the summit of the log to 13 points. They have now accumulated 47 points from 18 matches.

On the other hand, the Chilli Boys lay ninth with 19 points from 16 matches.
