Maritzburg United unveil three new signings
Maritzburg United have confirmed the acquisitions of Ali Meza, Bradley Cross, and Kwame Peprah.
The former Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder Meza and ex-Newcastle United’s Cross join the Team of Choice on permanent deals.
Meanwhile, Orlando Pirates’ out-of-favour striker Peprah moves to Maritzburg on a loan deal.
CROSS TO TRY HIS LUCK IN DSTV PREMIERSHIP
The left-footed centre-back Cross also played for Schalke 04 U19 (Germany) before he switched to Newcastle U21 in England.
He returned to his homeland South Africa last year to chance his luck in the DStv Premiership.
During the FIFA World Cup break, he was offered an opportunity for a trial at Kaizer Chiefs. However, Amakhosi later decided against signing him.
Thereafter, he trained with SuperSport United hoping to capture Gavin Hunt’s heart, but he elected to leave Matsatsantsa before they even decided on him.
MEZA RETURNS TO MARITZBURG FOR SECOND STINT
Meanwhile, Meza is returning to the Pietermaritzburg-based club for his second stint after he played for them between 2020 and 2022.
The Venezuelan forward has been unattached since June last year when he left Club Always Ready.
The former Mamelodi Sundowns made 21 appearances and rattled the back of the net two times during his first spell at Maritzburg.
PEPRAH REUNITES WITH FADLU DAVIDS
Peprah has been struggling to break into the starting lineup under coach Jose Riveiro who took the reins at Pirates in June.
The Ghanian striker has only made six appearances in all competitions this season and will be looking to get back his scoring boots under Fadlu Davids.
Peprah and Davids worked together last season at Pirates, where the 22-year-old striker scored nine goals for the Buccaneers.
