Clinton Larsen’s stance on interference from club bosses

Newly appointed Magesi FC coach Clinton Larsen insists the issue of interference doesn’t bother him at any club he goes to.

Larsen officially began his tenure as coach of the Limpopo side during the 1-0 win against La Masia in the Nedbank cup qualification last week. The 51-year-old has signed a short-term deal until the end of the season. But he could find himself staying longer, depending on the results.

When asked what his thoughts were regarding interference, which is rife in the PSL, Larsen said although he doesn’t tolerate it, he is a person who is always open to suggestions.

“I would not be sitting here. Anybody who knows me over the years knows that I don’t tolerate it (interference), number one,” said Larsen during a press conference.

“I didn’t have interference where I came from and I was happy working in that environment. After speaking to coach Jacky (Ledwaba) he told me, coach, you are going to enjoy working with the current management of Magesi. Up until now, I am happy to say that is the case.

MANAGEMENT SUGGESTIONS NOT A PROBLEM FOR CLINTON LARSEN

“I have been well supported by everybody. This thing about interference, sometimes whether it’s a club boss or a manager, they can make a comment. Some coaches can be rubbed off the wrong way and take it as interference. Everybody has been in football for a long time, as coaches, we don’t know everything. I am a very open person, I am always open to suggestions and listening to what people are going to say,” he said.

THE TEAM COMES FIRST

“That is why the question of interference never worries me. Because I will listen to what you say but at the end of the day, I am going to make a calculated decision in the best interest of the team. So, in terms of that, I don’t have any issues. Like I said, after one month I have been very happy with the support I have been getting.”
