Shots fired: Hunt takes swipe at Chippa’s Morgan Mammila

SuperSport United coach Gavin Hunt has taken a cheeky swipe at his Chippa United counterpart Morgan Mammila over his reckless comments made in the media this week.

Hunt, the most experienced coach in the DStv Premiership, said there is ‘a guy who’s making all the comments’ in reference to the motormouth Mammila.

Mammila has been in the media this week for his remarks about UEFA Pro License holders being behind his side on the log standings.

This was after Chippa’s 2-1 defeat to Mamelodi Sundowns, which brought the Eastern Cape side’s winless streak to five games. The Chilli Boys have lost three and drawn five, conceding 10 goals.

WHAT MORGAN MAMMILA SAID

When Mammila was asked about his future, he questioned why white coaches were not subjected to the same scrutiny. He insisted he was being asked about his future because he is a rural boy.

Gavin Hunt reacts to Morgan Mammila’s recent remarks

“Don’t look for colour, guys. Look at my stats. I have won four, drawn two, I have lost three. The white guy, how many games did he lose? Three games in a row.

“Did you ask him this question [about his future]? The answer is no. Because why? Morgan is a rural boy,” Mammila said on Monday.

GAVIN HUNT REACTS

On Friday, Hunt referred to the CEO-turned-coach as ‘the guy making all the comments at the moment’.

“I don’t think this is the right platform to comment about coaches; we’ve got a guy making all the comments at the moment; you know whom I’m talking about?

“He is talking; maybe he is looking for a job, I think. But I mean, you can’t be making or commenting about everything. It is ridiculous.
“You don’t talk about things like that; there is a professional code of conduct that you should have.

“And when you see the person first hand, then you can tell them that’s where these conversations take place, not in the media,” Hunt said.
