Arthur Zwane praises Kaizer Chiefs duo despite AmaZulu defeat
Despite a big defeat to AmaZulu, Kaizer Chiefs head coach Arthur Zwane has praised two of his players.
Zwane insisted that their opponents were not better than them. Amakhosi succumbed to a 4-0 away defeat to a spirited AmaZulu in a DStv Premiership match at the Moses Mabhida Stadium on Friday night.
It was a sixth league loss for Zwane’s side this season and a second on the trot after they had lost to Sekhukhune United at home last Sunday.
‘10111’, as Zwane is well known in football circles, singled out Nkosingiphile Ngcobo and Samkelo Zwane, praising them for having a good game on the day.
However, he lamented his side’s defensive frailties as they lost for the first time to Usuthu in Durban since 1999.
ZWANE GIVES HIS VERDICT ON THE LOSS TO AMAZULU
“You look at Mshini [Nkosingiphile Ngcobo]. He had a good game today, Zwane, so actually, AmaZulu players were not better than our players today,” Zwane, who looked depressed, told the media after the match.
“We just made mistakes that were costly on the day.”
Zwane says what separated the two sides is that Usuthu used their chances while his men failed.
“The [first] two goals they scored were dead ball situations; we know we could have done better [defensively],” he added.
“The third goal is also very easy, but we learned. I think, in the second half, when you look at the chances we created again, I think they only got that chance that they scored.
“Because they just sat back, they were waiting for the counter, and we did get chances, but we didn’t take them; that’s the difference.”
Despite this loss, the Glamour Boys remained in fourth place on the log standings with 24 points after 16 games.
KAIZER CHIEFS TO FACE IN-FORM SUNDOWNS
Ahead of them lies a big task against the red-hot Mamelodi Sundowns, who have won all their previous eight games in all competitions.
The match Between Kaizer Chiefs and Sundowns is scheduled to take place on Saturday, 21 January, at the FNB Stadium, with kick-off set for 20:00.
