Chuene Morifi reveals Sundowns Ladies’ aspirations for 2023 season

Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies midfielder Chuene Morifi has revealed the club’s aspirations for this season.

Defending the Hollywoodbets Super League trophy and reclaiming COSAFA Qualifiers title and the CAF Women’s Champions League are top of the list according to the midfield maestro.

Masandawana returned to training ahead of the 2023 campaign set to get underway next month. The Brazilians will be hoping to win their fourth consecutive league title.

Ahead of the new season, Morifi told the club’s media she wants to help Sundowns rewrite the history books.

CHUENE MORIFI SPEAKS…

“We’re fully aware that opponents are always looking to prove themselves against Sundowns Ladies. This coming season will not be an exception,” said Morifi.

“The objectives for us are quite clear, and getting back the continental trophies is a big part of our plans for the upcoming season.

“On a personal note, I hope to score more goals because they win you games. Last season I scored 6 times, and I hope to double that number this time around.”

Morifi also expressed her excitement about being back in training after a much-needed break following their busy schedule last season.

CHUENE MORIFI FEELS GOOD TO BE BACK…

“We are pleased to resume training, and I must commend the technical team for outlining a training schedule to keep us fit. The program has helped us to transition smoothly into the rigours of field sessions,” she added.

“So far, everything is going on well as planned, and we are looking forward to the more intensive sessions as we prepare for the new season.”

With all being said, the 2022 season wasn’t really a bad campaign for Jerry Tshabalala’s charges as they managed to win the Super League for the third time in a row and reaching the finals of both the COSAFA Qualifiers and the CAF Women’s Champions League.

To put a cherry on top, Sundowns scored 147 goals across all competitions.
