Eric Tinkler outlines what City must do to defeat Chippa United

Cape Town City coach Eric Tinkler has outlined what his side must do to ensure that they emerge victorious when they face a tricky Chippa United side away from home in the DStv Premiership on Saturday.

The Capetonians head into the match in high spirits and will be aiming to make it two-out-of-two victories in the league this year.

In their previous match, City came from a goal behind to defeat Orlando Pirates 2-1 at home.

On the other hand, Chippa are aiming to get back to winning ways after they lost 2-1 against Sundowns.

The Gqeberha outfit performed very well against the defending champions, especially in the second half. Therefore, they will be aiming to build on that.

WHAT ERIC TINKLER MUST DO TO DEFEAT CHIPPA UNITED

Tinkler insists they must have the same attitude and discipline they had against Orlando Pirates last week.

“We have a match against Chippa United in Port Elizabeth. If we want to go there and compete, we have to go there with a lot of aggression, a lot of self-belief and a lot of positivity,” Tinkler told the club’s media department.

Cape Town City coach Eric Tinkler has revealed what impressed him following his side's 2-1 victory over Royal AM on Friday in a DStv Premiership clash.

“It’s not going to be an easy game. I think they played well, especially in the second half against Mamelodi Sundowns.

“We can’t drop our level. We’ve got to keep our level where it was when we played against Orlando Pirates, especially in the second half.”

CITY’S OBJECTIVE THIS SEASON

The former Pirates coach further stated their mandate for the remainder of the season, which he admits it’s going to be difficult.

“We need to climb that table and remain in the top eight. That’s been our objective, and that’s our purpose. It’s a tough stage of the season. We go to the second round of the season,” Tinkler added.

The two sides are at par with 19 points, but City have one game in hand. They are separated by goal difference, City are seventh, and the Chilli Boys are positioned ninth.

Kickoff at Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium is at 17:30.
