Marumo Gallants head coach Dan ‘Dance’ Malesela says they were “self-inflicted” following their 2-0 loss to Richards Bay in a DStv Premiership clash at Royal Bafokeng Stadium on Saturday.
The defeat leaves Marumo Gallants in the 15th position on the log standings with 14 points after 17 games.
Malesela seemed frustrated after the disappointing result but tried hard to hold himself from making comments that might sound unpleasant to his troops.
Malesela reckons that his side were lacklustre throughout the game and couldn’t make use of their clear-cut chances.

After the game, Malesela admitted that his team struggled to make the right decisions, as they were their “own enemy”.
“Look, not the game we really deserved to lose. I mean, we cannot just blame anybody. This was self-inflicted,” said the well-travelled mentor.
The 57-year-old coach went on to slam his players and admitted they deserved a red card after the reckless tackle that was unnecessary.
This comes after Sibusiso Kumalo received a red card in the 73rd minute of the showdown.
WHY THE RED CARD WAS UNNECESSARY
“First of all, we missed lots of chances in the final third in the first half. Second, we have a player in the halfway line; we go to tackle as badly as we did to deserve a red card. That was not necessary,” he added.
“We were our own enemy. The sooner we understand that we are letting other people off the hook, the better.”
Malesela further stated that with some of his players returning from injuries, he expects to have a stronger team that will help the side get back to winning ways.
“Hopefully, the other guys who were injured will come back and help the team,” he explained.
“Let’s see who we can bring in and see how better we can play. But hopefully, with the players that were injured coming back, we might have a stronger team.”
Marumo’s next assignment will be against AmaZulu, away from home, on Saturday, 21 January.
The kick-off is set for 20:00.
