Former Sundowns winger rejoins Egyptian giants

Former Mamelodi Sundowns winger Luís Miquissone has rejoined Al Ahly in Egypt from Saudi club, Abha FC.

Abha are said to have cut short the Mozambican’s loan spell due to performance related reasons.

The midfielder is said to have not kicked the ball since December 16 2022 in Saudi Arabia, according to Kingfut.com of Egypt.

Kingfut adds that Abha were not impressed with Luís Miquissone; hence, the club ended up cutting short his loan spell.

LUÍS MIQUISSONE’S STRUGGLES IN SAUDI ARABIA

Luís Miquissone is reported to have failed to score in four games he featured for Abha across all competitions.

He moved to the Saudi Arabian side on a loan deal after struggling for game-time at Al Ahly.

The 27-year-old had signed for the Reds in a big money transfer from Simba SC in Tanzania in 2021.

Luís Miquissone moved to Egypt courtesy of South African coach Pitso Mosimane, who first recruited him while at Sundowns.

He admitted that he had followed Mosimane to the African Club of the Century.

HOW MISQUISSONE JOINED AL AHLY DUE TO MOSIMANE’S INFLUENCE

“The relationship between me and coach Pitso is amazing. When I was a player in Simba, I faced Al Ahly and it was great to see him,” the Mozambican told Al Ahly website on September 3 2021.

“My experience with him in Mamelodi Sundowns was so good; he made me be a good player and be better.

“He made me know more about football, as football is not just to get good things, but you need also to learn about bad things.”

Mosimane’s relationship with the Mozambican started in 2018 when he signed the player at Sundowns from UD Songo.

However, a few years later, the Mozambican attacker opted to sign for Simba due to limited game-time with the Tshwane giants.

Luís Miquissone signed for Al Ahly in August 2021 in a big money move following his impressive displays in the CAF Champions League.

The Mambas attacker was influential in Simba’s performance as they stunned Al Ahly 1-0 in a CAF Champions League group stage match in Dar es Salaam.

Mosimane was then convinced that Miquissone could add value to Al Ahly’s performances.

However, Miquissone found the going tough with the former CAF Champions League champions.

Miquissone scored five goals and registered 28 games as Al Ahly finished in third-place in the 2021 season.

The Mozambican still enjoyed some success as he was part of the FIFA Club World Cup bronze glory.
