Why facing Swallows is no longer personal for Brandon Truter

Sekhukhune United coach Brandon Truter insists he has moved on from his much publicised feud with his former club, Swallows.

Truter was in charge when Swallows gained promotion to the DStv Premiership in 2020. He also led the club to a sixth finish in the top tier the following season.

But things took a wrong turn during the 2021/22 season.

Truter was not only shown the door but he also accused the club of failing to meet their financial obligations.

To make matters worse, he was also involved in an ugly public spat with then-coach Dylan Kerr. This is after Kerr said Truter left the squad unfit.

HOW BRANDON TRUTER GOT OVER SWALLOWS RIFT

“I don’t think it’s personal anymore,” he told the media.

“There is another club (I coached) in between that and that coach (Dylan Kerr) has left there as well.

“So I don’t think it’s personal anymore, it’s just another game and it’s the only game that matters for us now.

“Swallows is a difficult team. Whether they are home or away, they have Middendorp now who is tactically very astute coach. But I know the majority of the players there.

“They are also under a bit of pressure wanting to get the results. It’s our home game and home games you always want to win your games.”

SEKHUKHUNE LOOK TO CONTINUE FINE FORM

Sekhukhune have been in fine form since Truter’s arrival. They are unbeaten in their last five DStv Premiership matches.

Four of the games were under Truter, who took over from Kaitano Tembo last year. Babina Noko collected 11 out of a possible 15 points.

The clash against Swallows will take place at Peter Mokaba Stadium on Friday, 20 January at 19:30.

Swallows have collected four points from their last two matches under new Ernst Middendorp.
