Banyana star Thembi Kgatlana drops injury update ahead of USA trip
Banyana Banyana star forward Thembi Kgatlana has provided her latest injury recovery update ahead of her trip to the United States of America (USA).
Kgatlana is set to return from her lengthy injury and is ready to jet off to join her new club Racing Louisville in America.
The ex-Atletico Madrid player signed a two-year deal with the Kentucky-based outfit.
Kgatlana was ruled out of the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations [WAFCON] group stage after sustaining a ruptured Achilles tendon during their 1-0 win against Botswana in July last year.
The 26-year-old frontwoman has since expressed her delight and insists that she cannot wait to get back into the field after her long-term injury.

‘’I can’t wait to meet with my new teammates at Kentucky but I am still going through rehabilitation from the Achilles tendon injury,” Kgatlana told SAFA media department.
“I am close to full healing and at the moment am running and trying to get to full fitness.’’
Meanwhile, SAFA President Dr Danny Jordaan has wished Kgatlana best of luck as she is set to jet off to the USA on Friday, 20 January.
“We as SAFA are very happy with Thembi’s progress and we are delighted that she is returning to the playing fields,” added Dr Jordaan.
“We would like to wish her all the best in the United States as she embarks on this chapter of her career.”
Kgatlana was full of praises for her new side for being “helpful” during her long injury layoff.
‘’The club, [Racing Louisville], has been very helpful, and for that, I want to applaud them,’’ she explained.
The speedy forward also represented teams such as Eibar in Spain, Benfica in Portugal, Beijing in China, Huston Dash, to mention a few.
With Kgatlana nearing her return from injury, she will be hoping to form part of the Banyana’s squad for the upcoming FIFA Women’s World Cup set to be co-hosted by Australia and New Zealand.
