Burnley boss Vincent Kompany comments on Lyle Foster links
Burnley FC manager Vincent Kompany has commented on reports linking Bafana striker Lyle Foster with the English Championship side.
Kompany told Burnley Express newspaper of England that the South African is not the only he is eyeing.
“From our side there is no rush, it was an opportunity to see players,” Kompany told the newspaper.
“To be honest, he [Lyle Foster] wasn’t the only player on that pitch although I understand he is the one being talked about now, but there is a few more.”
WHY VINCENT KOMPANY IS INTERESTED IN LYLE FOSTER
Kompany is eyeing Lyle Foster following his hot form at Westerlo FC in Belgium.
The Manchester City legend travelled to Belgium to watch Lyle Foster in action for Westerlo against Genk on Tuesday evening.
The sight of Kompany and his assistants, Craig Bellamy and Rodyse Munienge, in Belgium fueled the links to Foster.
Kompany wants to beef up his squad. The coach is pushing for promotion to the Premiership. Burnley lead the Championship log table.
BURNLEY WANT TO BEEF UP SQUAD IN THEIR QUEST FOR PROMOTION
The Belgian manager had a distinguished playing career at City.
He wound up his playing career three seasons before venturing into coaching.
So far, Kompany’s start to management has been impressive in the second-tier league.
Burnley top the table with 59 points from 27 games, four points ahead of Sheffield United.
The former defender launched his coaching career in Belgium at RSC Anderlecht two seasons ago.
Kompany is, therefore, familiar with Foster. However, Westerlo appear to be putting their foot down on such a possible transfer.
Foster has scored eight goals and provided two assists in 20 appearances this campaign.
The Bafana forward previously played for AS Monaco in France and at Cercle Brugge in Belgium.
The 22-year-old rose through the junior football ranks before earning his professional contract with Pirates.
