Ex-Golden Arrows striker joins Power Dynamos

Former Golden Arrows and Ajax Cape Town striker Thomas Chideu has joined Zambian outfit Power Dynamos, it has emerged.

The 26-year-old forward joined the Kitwe-based club on an undisclosed contract from Forest Rangers.

TKT Sports Agency confirmed the development via their Facebook page.

“Thomas Chideu joins Power Dynamos Football Club from Forest Rangers Football Club,” reads the post.

Chideu signed for Ajax Cape Town in 2015 from Zimbabwean giants Highlanders, but he failed to live up to his billing.

He left the Cape Town-based club in a huff at the end of 2017 to join DStv Premiership side Golden Arrows.

According to transfermarkt, he played seven matches at Golden Arrows, with 2 goals to his name before he was deemed excess to requirements in 2018.

Former Chippa United gaffer Norman Mapeza gave him a chance at FC Platinum, but he failed to pin down his places in the team and was deservedly offloaded in 2019.

He later swapped from Bulawayo Chiefs and Harare City between 2019 and 2021, before gaining entry into the Zambian Super League where he has since established himself well.

In Zambia, the gangly forward has been one of the decent performers for Forest Rangers.

His contract with the Ian Bakala coached side expired at the tail end of last year and was not renewed. 

And having surfaced at Power Dynamos, Chideu will be expected to be at his penetrative best if he is to last the distance.

“It’s good that I found a new home, and I believe this is another opportunity to be better. From now, I have to carry out my duties without an excuse,” said Chideu.

“I thank God for this move and agency. This is an indication that I have more to offer and the best from me is yet to come.

“I have been training hard to improve on my since I was also affected by injuries at some point, and I believe I will take it up from where I left off.”
