Kaizer Chiefs head coach Arthur Zwane says he is not worried about being shown the exit door despite the club’s inconsistent performances in the 2022/23 season.
Chiefs suffered a humiliating 4-0 loss to AmaZulu in a DStv Premiership clash at Moses Mabhida Stadium last Friday, 13 January.
The defeat left some Amakhosi faithful questioning Zwane’s tactical acumen and his ability to lead a club of Chiefs calibre.
Before the Usuthu encounter, the Soweto giants suffered a 1-0 loss at the hands of Sekhukhune United at FNB Stadium.
Asked if he’s afraid of losing his job, the Soweto-born mentor said he’s not concerned because he’s been given the time to build a competitive team.
WHY ARTHUR ZWANE IS NOT WORRIED
“To be quite honest, I’m not worried about my job,” Zwane told the media at Naturena on Thursday.
“I’m not worried because we have a plan as the club, a plan that need to be executed.
“And if you look back, for how many years we’ve been trying to hit the ground running, it didn’t work for the club.
“Whether you like it or not at the end of the day we need to do something. There is many other teams we can make an example of in Europe.
“If you look at Arsenal now and why they are doing well. It’s because they had so much patience and belief in whoever they put there [at the coaching position].
“You can see the results for yourself.
“But I don’t want to compare and say we can do exactly what Arsenal are doing. I’m just making an example that if we have a plan that we want to execute.
“We need time and you pay the price in terms of the results because the results will be fluctuating.
“At the end of the day, if you are not going to get it right, someone who’s going to come in the future will get a team that can easily grind results.
“Because they’ll be a way of playing and identity, the system will be profiling suitable players,” he added.
CAN ZWANE’s TROOPS AVOID DEFEAT AGAINST SUNDOWNS?
Chiefs have won seven games, drawn three while losing six times after 16 game played in the league.
They are currently positioned fourth on the table with 24 points, 19 adrift of leaders Mamelodi Sundowns.
The Glamour Boys will be looking to avoid losing three successive games as they take on Sundowns at FNB Stadium on Saturday, 21 January in a league game.
Kickoff is at 20:00 for the much-anticipated encounter.
