Arthur Zwane explains why Kaizer Chiefs invites their targets for trials

Kaizer Chiefs coach Arthur Zwane has explained why the club invites their targets for trials before deciding on whether to sign them or not.

A few months ago, the PSL giants invited several players for an assessment as Zwane was in the market for possible reinforcements in the Amakhosi squad.

The likes of Balint Bajner, Maurizio Macorig, Amânsio Canhembe, Stanley Ratifo and Bradley Cross were reportedly invited for trials at Naturena in recent months but the Soweto giants opted against signing them.

However, three trialists in, Edmilson Dove, Bonfils-Caleb Bimenyimana and Christian Saile Bambouli, impressed Zwane and the technical teams as they acquired their services.

ZWANE EXPLAINS DECISION TO INVITE CHIEFS TARGETS FOR TRIALS

“All the players you’ve seen here come [at Naturena] and try their luck; we profile them first. We wanted to see them closely; we wanted to monitor them closely,” Zwane told the media.

“We want to assess them and have a closer look and make a decision. We try to follow that player and do proper research, making sure as soon as he comes here, we know what we are looking for.

“A player [striker] you can see it performing when you are given footage of a player playing. You find out the last time he played was two seasons ago.

“But it will show he’s scoring goals right now. We don’t see other aspects that can help a player come to add value.”

WHY INVITING TARGETS WORKS IN KAIZER CHIEFS’ FAVOUR

Zwane further stated why this approach works in the club’s favour right now.

“It’s best for us right now because we’ve brought in players in the past that we saw and profiled them, but because Kaizer Chiefs is a different beast, when they arrive here, when the pressure mounts, they can’t cope.

“As a club, we suffer again. We’ve got to go and look for another player. We try to avoid that; we can’t repeat the same mistake,” he added.

On Wednesday, the Soweto giants acquired the services of Cristian Saile. Last month, this publication revealed that Chiefs have been monitoring the striker to bolster their attacking options.
