Callies beat AmaTuks to move out of relegation while Casric Stars climb to second spot

Pretoria Callies beat University of Pretoria [AmaTuks] to move out of the relegation zone in the Motsepe Foundation Championship. Elsewhere, Casric Stars climbed to the second spot after a 0-0 draw with Hungry Lions.

Callies thrashed AmaTuks 3-0 at Tuks Stadium on Saturday to move up to 13th position with two points away from the drop zone.

CALLIES MOVE TO SAFETY

Prior to defeating AmaTuks, Kwanele Kopo’s side beat Magesi 2-0 at Lucas Moripe Stadium on Wednesday, 18 January.

Baroka claimed the Limpopo derby bragging rights after handing Polokwane City a 3-1 drubbing Global Stadium.

Despite losing against their arch-rivals, Polokwane City remains top of the second-tier division with 30 points, level on point with second-placed Casric Stars.

Bakgakga remains unbeaten in the National First Division in 2023 after winning three games in a row.

Championship newbies MM Platinum, famously known as La Masia, suffered their sixth successive defeat after being punished 2-1 by All Stars at Bidvest Stadium on Saturday.

La Masia lies 15th on the log with 14 points, and they are two points away from the drop zone.

Venda Football Academy boosted their relegation survival with a 1-0 victory against Platinum City Rovers on Sunday evening. VFA moved up to 13th place after a slender defeat to Rovers.

Meanwhile, Tshakuma Tsha Madzivhandila suffered a humiliating 5-0 defeat against JDR Stars on Sunday afternoon at Thohoyandou Stadium.

TTM lost their second game in a row after they were beaten 2-1 by Tlisane Motaung-coached midweek.
