Oupa Manyisa cuts ties with Rovers, resurfaces at PSL club
Former Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder Oupa Manyisa has parted ways with Platinum City Rovers and is trying his luck at La Masia.
Manyisa terminated his contract with Rovers, having joined them at the start of the 2021/22 season. He is now a free agent.
‘Ace’ looks set to reunite with his former Rovers coach Ashwin Sutton, who was introduced to the players as the new head coach.

Interestingly, the two also joined Rovers, who were promoted to the Motsepe Foundation Championship at the end of the 2020/21 season, at the same time.
“Ashwin Sutton arrived at the club with Oupa Manyisa, they’ve worked together since July 2021, and it looks like he wants him at the club. Oupa started training with the team on Monday,” a source told FARPost.
Manyisa is on record as ruling out a return to the PSL, although he insists he feels strong to go on for a few more years in the second tier.
The 34-year-old spent over 18 months with City Rovers. “I still feel strong, and I think I can still go on for a few more years,” Manyisa told FARPost in a previous interview.
Manyisa spent six seasons at Pirates and was part of the team that won two successive trebles before moving to Sundowns.
WHY PLATINUM CITY ROVERS VALUED HIM
He had a stint with Chippa United before going to Rovers. The Motsepe Foundation side previously acknowledged that the veteran anchorman was a leader in their dressing room, always encouraging his teammates about the game.
La Masia would be keen to add his experience to their dressing room as they continue their maiden season in the second tier.
The newly promoted side is 15th on the Motsepe Foundation Championship table, having only picked four wins and two draws in 15 matches. They have lost nine matches, forcing management to make technical team changes.
